Lewistown Elementary School’s Schoolwide Title I program encourages all parents to be involved with their child’s education. Lewistown Elementary School will use the Parent Involvement Policy to help increase communication and interaction among teachers and parents of all students. This policy outlines the trainings, activities and opportunities offered to parents and families during the school year to facilitate and evaluate the Title I Schoolwide program. Title I funds will be used to provide parents with the opportunity to participate as members of the Parent Involvement Committee, attend conferences, trainings, workshops and meetings so they can be partners in their child’s education. Our staff will be responsible for providing parents with relevant information regarding school curriculum, academic assessments, the school’s progress, and their child’s growth. Monthly newsletters, website postings, flyers and invitations will also help to communicate information to families. We will provide parents and families of students who are struggling in the areas of math and reading with progress reports. We will invite parents and families to schedule conferences to discuss their child’s progress and plan strategies to complement their child’s instruction. Lewistown Elementary School will hold an annual meeting to inform parents about the school’s Schoolwide program, to help evaluate the effectiveness of the program and to plan for the future. We will inform parents and families about the requirements of the Schoolwide program and their right to be involved. Additional information will be available during events, trainings and workshops held at various times throughout the school year. These events include, but are not limited to, Open House, parent conferences, and parent involvement trainings and activities. The Home-School Compact outlines how the entire school staff, parents, and students share in the responsibility for improving student achievement. The policy was developed in a joint effort between parents and staff to ensure the best possible educational experience for all students at Lewistown Elementary School.
